As this amazing Summer comes to an end, it is time to think about the upcoming Squash season.
Die hard players have not stopped playing during the Summer though. The Box League has been a success for Singles and Kevin Christner and Robert Spampata ran a Summer Doubles League at the Saturn every Thursday.
The BSRA is putting together a great season ahead of us. Singles Ladder has started on Sep 1st. It will run year round. Great way to play different players and improve your rating. Let me know if you want to join it.
Also, the Ed Jocoy Season Opening Tournament will take place on Saturday October 8th at T&S or the Buffalo Club. It will start early in the morning with the Finals in the evening for both Singles and Doubles. Divisions will depend on the number of entrants, but I will expect A, B and C for Doubles and A, B, C and D for Singles. I will send before the end of the month a link to a USSquash.com page where you can sign in. Tournament is free for BSRA members. BSRA will also provide free Coffee, fruit and Donuts for Breakfast and Pizza and Wings for Lunch.
We will start the Leagues in early November. Brian Donaghy will run the C and D Divisions and I will run the AB Division.
Something new for this season will be a Buffalo vs Rochester Tournament. Format and dates are still to be determined.
Some top players have moved out of Buffalo: Leyton Johnston, Kingman Bassett, Lou Karl and Jack Vanderhorst will not be playing in Buffalo this coming year. Who will be filling the void? Matt Dukarm and Charlie Barth are the prime candidates to play the City A Final next March. Next to them will be the young guns from Canisius and “older” players like Trey Sausen, Dave Pfalzfraf and Steve Joyce.
Also, we have worked on some new tools to help keep you informed as the season progresses. Check out the new BSRA website at http://bsra.ussquash.com/ and be sure to like our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/BuffaloSquash/ to stay up to date.
With all this happening, it is time to get back to the gym and get ready for this season…
