70th Anniversary T&S Doubles Squash Tournament: Weekend Recap

This event marked a major milestone for the Buffalo squash community as we celebrated the 70th Anniversary of the T&S Doubles Squash Tournament. More than 45 teams competed across seven divisions, filling the courts with high-level play, sportsmanship, and the camaraderie that has defined this event for seven decades.

Players traveled from Philadelphia, Rochester, Cleveland, and Toronto to take part in the tournament, underscoring the continued regional draw and reputation of this longstanding tradition. The competitive depth across all divisions made for a memorable weekend of squash from start to finish.

A Team Effort Behind the Scenes

This anniversary celebration would not have been possible without the dedication of the tournament committee, who worked tirelessly for more than six months to ensure the weekend ran smoothly.

A special thank-you goes to T&S General Manager Nicholette Odenbach, whose leadership and coordination were instrumental throughout the planning and execution of the event. We also extend our sincere appreciation to Michael Mortellaro for his continued support.

We are deeply grateful to our major sponsors, whose generosity helps elevate this tournament year after year, and to our tournament co-chairs, Richard Lynn and Peter DeRoSe, for their vision, commitment, and steady guidance.

A Weekend to Remember

Throughout the weekend, players and guests enjoyed unlimited food and drinks, creating a welcoming and festive atmosphere both on and off the courts. The celebration culminated on Saturday evening with a black-tie dinner, where the community had the privilege of honoring Gordon Anderson—a fitting tribute during such a landmark anniversary.

The evening reflected everything that makes this tournament special: tradition, excellence, and a strong sense of community.
