As we head into the new year, we want to take a moment to share an important update about BSRA membership dues—and more importantly, the why behind this change.
Each BSRA member currently pays $149 annually through the U.S. Squash membership system. What many people don’t realize is that only 22% of that fee comes back to your local SRA—in our case, the BSRA.
That means just $31 per member, per year supports all the programming, communications, tournaments, and community-building the BSRA delivers.
After reviewing our operating needs and the rising costs of delivering quality programming, the Board has voted to implement a modest increase starting January 1. When you renew your membership, you will see:
➡️ A 5% BSRA dues increase — an additional $7
This is a one-time adjustment that appears directly on your renewal screen.
We want to be transparent about where this additional $7 goes and how it directly benefits our membership:
1. Improved Communications Tools and Member Experience
We’ve invested in a modern email communications platform that allows us to share information more efficiently and segment event notices, junior programming, league messages, and tournament announcements.
This tool helps ensure that BSRA members get timely, relevant information—but it comes with an annual cost.
2. Future Enhancements to the BSRA Website and Event Registration
We are planning upgrades to our website, including a more robust calendar and improved payment and registration options for BSRA events.
These enhancements will help streamline sign-ups, reduce administrative burden, and create a smoother experience for everyone.
3. Rising Costs of Hosting Premier BSRA Events
Like many community organizations, we’re seeing increases in the cost of:
- Food and beverages for events
- Awards and trophies
- Swag and tournament apparel
- General supplies and operations
These are essential ingredients in making BSRA events fun, inclusive, and memorable—and your dues help ensure we can continue offering high-quality programming.
