BSRA Celebrates Another Successful Season at Annual Year-End Event

The Buffalo squash community came together on May 7, 2026, at the The Saturn Club to celebrate another memorable season at the Buffalo Squash Racquets Association’s annual year-end event. Players, families, coaches and supporters gathered for an evening of reflection, recognition and excitement for the season ahead.

Outgoing BSRA President Chris Saeli served as emcee for the evening and reflected on the organization’s momentum over the past three years under his leadership. Chris highlighted several major accomplishments, including growth in membership and engagement across the Buffalo squash community, increased national tournament participation, and the successful hosting of major U.S. national events.

Chris also spoke about the continued strengthening of the organization through improved communications efforts, including a new website, expanded email newsletters and stronger community outreach, along with the organization’s ongoing financial stability.

The evening also marked a leadership transition as incoming BSRA President Whit Mittlefehldt addressed attendees. Whit, who has served on the BSRA board for the past four years, shared his enthusiasm for continuing to grow and support squash throughout Western New York.

Looking ahead to the 2026–2027 season, Whit emphasized the BSRA’s commitment to providing strong adult and junior league opportunities, supporting competitive play, working closely with U.S. Squash on rules, rankings and tournaments, and ensuring a welcoming social and competitive experience for players of all levels. Preparations for the upcoming season are already underway.

The evening also celebrated the many accomplishments from across the 2026 season. Chris recognized championship winners and finalists from the BSRA City Singles and Doubles Championships, High School League and Winter League competitions before presenting the organization’s annual awards.

The evening concluded with dinner, conversation and plenty of reflection on another successful year for squash in Buffalo. From junior development and league play to national tournaments and community growth, the event served as a reminder of the strong and passionate community that continues to drive the sport forward in Western New York.

The BSRA now turns its attention toward the 2026–2027 season with excitement and momentum already building for another great year ahead.
