The Saturn Club courts were buzzing with energy this past weekend as Super Saturday marked the exciting conclusion of the 2025 Buffalo City Singles Championships. Over the past several weeks, 74 players across 11 singles divisions gave it their all, culminating in a fantastic day of finals matches.
From hard-fought rallies to moments of pure determination, the competition was filled with memorable performances. “Thank you to everyone who made the 2025 Buffalo City Championships a success,” said Whit Mittlefehldt, tournament organizer and Vice President of the BSRA. “We are grateful to all the competitors—men, women, and juniors—for their dedication and sportsmanship. A big thank you to the club pros, the BSRA board, and the Saturn Club for hosting Super Saturday. Special thanks to Steve Joyce for his help with the finals matches and to Alan Jay for volunteering his photography skills to capture the day.”
Match Highlights
Women’s Divisions
- Women A: Sisters Petra and Cara Derose faced off in a spirited match, with Petra finding her groove to claim a 3-0 win.
- Women B: Danielle Larrabee earned a 3-0 win against Meghan Sheehan.
- Women C: Kendyl Kratzer’s opponent was unable to compete, so Kendyl won by default.
- Women 40+: Rebecca Brady showed great form and focus in her match against Jamie Perry, securing a 3-0 win.
Men’s Divisions
- Men A: Tommy Sheehan played a strong match against Jonathan Siren, maintaining steady control to take a 3-0 win.
- Men C: In a tightly contested match, Joshua Mercurio and Jared Aldstadt pushed each other to the limit. Mercurio edged out the victory in a deciding fifth game.
- Men D: Chase Martin and Joseph Jebereza put on a great display of skill and determination, with Martin securing a 3-1 win in a well-balanced match.
- Men 40+: David Pfalzgraf and Gui Alvarez exchanged some great rallies, but Pfalzgraf ultimately earned a 3-1 victory.
- Men 50+: Pfalzgraf and Alvarez went right back to play yet another full match in the 50+ division, where Pfalzgraf found his rhythm early and secured a 3-0 win.
